Made it to DC safely last night and had a great time with Monika, who so amazingly trained in from Baltimore to hang out for the night :) After registration earlier this afternoon I am now officially a Peace Corps Trainee, and had a great day meeting the other 39 trainees and getting orientated to a few more things PC/South Africa. My classmates are a really great group of people from all over the country, with a variety of ages and backgrounds- should be great getting to know each other better and sharing our dive into South Africa over the next few months. Tomorrow we have a visit to a clinic in the morning for various vaccinations (including yellow fever) and then are off to the airport for our 5:40pm flight to South Africa, arriving Friday the 29th at around 6:20pm.
All indications point to an almost guaranteed lack of internet access for the foreseeable future, so this may be my last post for a while, but I will try and update as soon as possible and in the meantime will be working on my letter-writing skills (my mailing address for the next two months is below and to the right!). Much love to you all and I will talk to you soon!
WOO! I am soooooooo excited for you....keep us updated when you can, but of course the truly important thing is to go out there and experience the magic :)
